RULES AND REGULATIONS

ELIGIBILITY

  1. The competition is open to current registered architectural students who are pursuing a bachelor’s/master’s degree in accredited schools of architecture in India.

  2. Individual entries or group entries (of two students) are permitted.

  3. Essays are invited in two categories a) Long Essay b) Short Essay. Only one entry per individual/group will be accepted in either of the categories.

  4. Entries must be submitted in English.

  5. Registration fee: INR 250/ entry. To register, please register from Home page.

SUBMISSION FORMAT

  1. Word Limit: Long Essay (2500 words); Short Essay (1000 words)

  2. Format: PDF; Font (Body Text: Calibri body Regular; 12; Title: Calibri body Bold; 14)
    ; Spacing between lines: 1.5

  3. The essay should have a title, word count and bibliography/references. The title and bibliography will not be counted in the permissible word limit.  

  4. Pictures/Illustrations will not be accepted.

  5. Participant’s Name, Institution Name, Year, Email, Phone Number and Home address should ONLY be mentioned in a separate PDF document sent with the entry. A scanned copy of the institution validity should be provided.

  6. Essays should be emailed to dscaessayprize@gmail.com with the subject ESSAY SUBMISSION.

  1. Launch of Competition: Sep 2019

  2. Last Date for Entries:  12th Nov 2019

  3. Shortlisting of Entries by the Review Committee: 26th Nov 2019

  4. Jury Process and Announcement of Winners: Dec 2019

CRITERIA OF JUDGEMENT

The essays can be critical/analytical essays, research essays, or ideation essays. They will be judged on
the following parameters:

  1. Interpretation of Brief, Content, Relevance to Topic (Clarity of thought, effectiveness, and quality of argument)

  2. Research

  3. Originality/Voice/Observation

  4. Structure and Flow of Essay

  5. Style of Writing (Expression/Language/Vocabulary/Tone

  6. Entries that adhere to the deadline and word count( a margin of 50-70 words is acceptable) will be considered.

  7. Entries with plagiarized content will not be considered for review. Simplicity of language will be appreciated.
